DoorDash’s New Rule: What’s the Deal with the Code?"

Hi Hive!

Let’s talk about DoorDash’s latest update — and honestly? I’m here for it!

So, if you’ve ordered recently, you’ve probably noticed something new. Instead of just getting a “your food is here” text, DoorDash now asks you to give your driver a four-digit code before they hand over your order. At first, I was like, “Wait, what’s this about?” But once I thought it through, it actually makes sense.

Look, we’ve all seen the drama — orders getting dropped off at the wrong house, food mysteriously vanishing, or people claiming they never got their meal (while wiping ketchup off their face). I guess DoorDash got tired of it and decided to add a little security. And honestly? I appreciate it!

Now, don’t get me wrong — I loved the “drop it and go” option as much as the next person. There’s something nice about not having to open the door and engage in small talk. But let’s be real, getting your food safely is more important than avoiding a quick “thank you.” Plus, this new rule might actually stop the “my food never arrived” scams.

So far, I’ve had to give the code a couple of times, and it’s been smooth. Quick interaction, food handed over, done. No awkward convos, no confusion about where my order went.

What do y’all think? Have you noticed this change? Are you feeling it, or do you miss the old system? Let me know in the comments — and hey, maybe this will finally stop my fries from disappearing in transit!

Buzzing out,
