Breaking the Silence: Domestic Violence Awareness Month Begins

Hive check-in: Let’s dive into today’s narrative
October marks the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time dedicated to lifting voices, breaking silence, and standing in solidarity with survivors. Domestic violence isn’t always visible. It’s not just bruises or broken bones—it can be emotional manipulation, financial control, isolation, and threats that leave scars on the inside just as deep as those on the outside.

For too long, survivors have carried their pain in silence. But awareness is powerful. Awareness reminds people they are not alone, and it pushes communities to create safe spaces where survivors can rebuild.

💜 How You Can Support This Month:

Wear purple to show solidarity.

Share resources in your community.

Listen without judgment when someone opens up.

Donate to shelters and advocacy programs.

If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, here are some important contacts:

National Domestic Violence Hotline (U.S.): 1-800-799-7233 or text "START" to 88788.

RAINN (Sexual Assault Hotline): 1-800-656-4673.

Local shelters and advocacy centers often provide free, confidential support.

This month, I’ll be sharing poems, reflections, and resources each day. My hope is that these words spark conversations, provide comfort, and encourage healing.

Silence protects the abuser. Speaking out protects the survivor.
Let’s break the silence together. 💜
