Sexyy Red’s AI Blunder: The Backlash Over the MLK Post

Rapper Sexyy Red recently found herself in hot water after sharing an AI-generated image of herself hanging out with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in what looked like a club setting. To say people weren’t happy about it would be an understatement. Dr. Bernice King, MLK’s daughter, called out the post, describing it as "intentionally dishonoring, deplorable, and disrespectful" to her father’s legacy. As you can imagine, the internet erupted with opinions, with many agreeing that the post just didn’t sit right.

In response, Sexyy Red quickly apologized, stating that she "never meant to disrespect" and took down the image. While she acted fast to clear the air, the damage had already been done, and the backlash was hard to ignore.

This incident is a reminder that even in the world of social media and AI, we need to think carefully about how we portray significant historical figures. MLK’s legacy is still very much alive, and using his image like that? Definitely a step too far.
