The Shift Before the Bloom
Hive check-in: Let’s dive into today’s narrative.
March arrives quietly, but its presence is unmistakable. The days stretch just a little longer, the sun lingers in the sky, and even the cold seems to loosen its grip. While winter hasn’t fully released us yet, March acts as a bridge preparing both the earth and our minds for spring.
Meteorologically, March 1st marks the beginning of spring. It’s not the official seasonal shift, but it signals a gradual warming, a subtle change in rhythm. Light becomes more generous. Energy slowly returns. The heaviness of winter starts to lift, even if we’re not quite ready to shed our coats.
Later this month, around March 20th, the vernal equinox will arrive the moment when day and night are nearly equal. The equinox symbolizes balance, reminding us that growth doesn’t come from constant motion, but from harmony. It’s a powerful midpoint: not rushing forward, not holding back just aligning.
March also carries a reflective undertone thanks to Mercury retrograde, which runs through much of the month. Known astrologically as a time when communication, travel, and technology can feel disrupted, Mercury retrograde is less about chaos and more about pause. It encourages revisiting old ideas, reconsidering decisions, and resolving unfinished business. Rather than pushing ahead, this is a season for review, clarity, and intentional movement.
That combination seasonal transition and cosmic reflection is what gives March its distinct energy. It’s not the burst of full spring yet. It’s the preparation. The soil turning beneath the surface. The quiet decision to grow.
March reminds us that transformation doesn’t always announce itself loudly. Sometimes it shows up as longer afternoons, deeper thoughts, and the awareness that something new is forming even if we can’t see it yet.
As this month begins, consider what needs revisiting before moving forward. What deserves patience? What’s ready to be released so there’s room for what’s next?
March isn’t asking us to bloom yet it’s asking us to prepare.
